Our Environmental ImpactTurning Waste Into Climate-Positive Packaging

Greenamor Ventures Pvt Ltd is building sustainable cosmetic packaging by converting upcycled coconut coir fibre waste and plant-based biopolymers into durable, compostable containers. Our impact lies not only in what we produce — but in what we help replace.

Environmental Impact Scorecard (FY 2023–24)

Greenamor's environmental performance for the financial year 2023–24 has been assessed under the GREENR Environmental Impact Scorecard, developed by TechnoServe, J-PAL, and supported by the IKEA Foundation.

This assessment estimates both:

  • Emissions avoided by replacing conventional packaging, and
  • Emissions generated across our operations and value chain

All calculations are based on company-reported data and established emission factors.

Packaging That Replaces Carbon-Intensive Materials

During FY 2023–24:

  • 800 units of biopolymer–coir containers (40 g capacity) were supplied
  • Each unit served as a one-to-one functional replacement for conventional cosmetic containers
  • Conventional alternatives considered: 70% Polypropylene (PP), 30% Glass

By offering compostable packaging made from PLA and upcycled coconut coir fibre, Greenamor enabled brands to avoid emissions associated with:

  • Fossil-based plastic production
  • Energy-intensive glass manufacturing
  • End-of-life disposal impacts

Carbon Emissions Avoided

78 kg CO₂-eq Emissions Avoided

These emissions represent the greenhouse gases that would have been generated if customers had used conventional PP or glass packaging instead of Greenamor's biopolymer–coir containers.

The estimate includes emissions from:

  • Raw material sourcing
  • Manufacturing
  • Disposal and end-of-life treatment

Additional considerations:

  • Prevented plastic end-of-life emissions for PP
  • Prevented methane emissions from coconut fibre waste that would otherwise end up in landfills

Operational & Value Chain Emissions

While creating impact, Greenamor also accounts for emissions generated through its operations.

Emissions Added

Scope 1 & 2: 22 kg CO₂-eq

  • Purchased electricity used in manufacturing and operations

Scope 3: 259 kg CO₂-eq

  • Purchased goods and services
  • Upstream transportation
  • Downstream distribution

Net Carbon Impact

Estimated Net Emissions: 203 kg CO₂-eq

Net emissions are calculated by subtracting emissions avoided from total emissions generated.

This figure represents Greenamor's overall carbon footprint for FY 2023–24, while facilitating the sale of compostable packaging made from plant-based biopolymers and upcycled coconut coir fibre.

A negative net score would indicate absolute emission reduction; this score reflects an early-stage manufacturing operation actively reducing emissions relative to conventional alternatives.

Why This Impact Matters

  • Replaces plastic and glass, not just materials — but systems
  • Diverts coir industry waste from landfill
  • Supports circular economy practices in Kerala
  • Enables brands to reduce packaging-related emissions without redesigning entire supply chains

This is practical sustainability, implemented at the product level.
